New hotel review : The Gardens Manchester
So first of all i have to admit that its been a while since my last post, ive had alot of work on over the last few months and so haven’t been able to write as much new stuff as id like. However hopefully i can make up for this with a new review of a great cheap hotel in Manchester city centre. So to start with this is a 3 star hotel around half a mile from the “official” city centre. The Gardens Hotel is also AA attested which is always nice to have and features a number of top notch facilities at a very reasonable price. Speaking of price there are some very interesting deals on at the minute as i write this as you can get a standard single for £45 and a double for £55 which is very great for a central Manchester hotel.

As i have mentioned before being in the centre of your destination city is always a plus and The Gardens is within walking distance of Piccadilly Station and the Arndale Centre which should save you quite a bit on taxi fees and other travel costs. As with most modern hotels weather they market themselves as a “business hotel” or not WIFI is provided throughout the hotel and should be accessible everywhere. One thing that i did notice in other peoples reviews of this hotel is that it is a little basic and could do with some modernisation. I think that this could be true however my main priority has always been to provide good advice on cheap and budget hotels around the Manchester area. So while you shouldn’t have to compromise on the basics i think there may need to be some give and take with the luxury elements of these hotels. I suppose the best way to put it is that this is the ideal type of hotel for someone on quick weekend break etc and probably not suited for a much longer stay. I suppose the main thing to consider is how much time you are actually going to be spending in the hotel? For many its a case of being out shopping /sightseeing all day then out in the bars at night, how much of the hotel are you really going to see?
So as you can see my main priorities for a hotel are:
- Cheap
- Clean
- Safe
- Location
- Wifi (sometimes)
Not a very big list is it! However when it comes to cheap you don’t want to limit yourself to an extensive list of factors, keep it simple so you can keep the price down. So there you go a new review and some general advice too, hopefully ill have some more news and reviews to come soon!
Manchester Hotel Review : Britannia Sachas hotel
So it’s just about that time again for another hotel review here at cheap hotels in Manchester. As usual I’m sticking with tradition and reviewing a hotel right in the city centre (0.4 miles to be exact). The hotel is Britannia Sachas hotel which is an art deco modern hotel right in the heart of Manchester. This is another place that may also be considered slightly unusual but if you read this blog a lot you will know that’s nothing new for me! I have to admit thought that the first thing to attract me to this stylish and unusual accommodation is the special offer budget prices that they are doing for the next few weeks. Prices are almost halved from £85 for a standard double to just £49 which is really amazing and is not the average discount that I’m used to seeing.

Its hard to know the motivation for the big price cuts but i think whatever the reason your average visitor would be crazy to not consider some of these deals when choosing their next hotel. When you put this kind of offer up against some of the competing hotels around the city it really starts to stand out even more. I suppose i should tell you a bit more about the hotel before i go on any further, after all what’s the point of a discount if you don’t like the hotel?
First the hotel is 3 star visit Britain attested which is always reassuring. Also one great thing about this place (and quite unusual for a 3 star hotel) is that it has a swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sauna and also a gym. Now i know for alot of people a gym really isn’t a must on their average hotel stay (especially if its a holiday stay and not a business trip) as most people just want to relax. However I’m sure there are many of my readers who would appreciate the sauna and Jacuzzi services. I suppose its a real added extra that you just don’t get in your average budget hotel in this price range but hopefully its going to be more and more common. Why should 5 star guests have all the luxury?

You can also expect plenty of the standard offerings with this budget hotel such as TV, hairdryer and free wifi throughout the building. There’s also air con in all of the rooms which is welcome but quite unexpected of a “cheap hotel” these days. Long time readers of the blog will also be aware that im a big fan of hotels located right in the centre of the city no matter what city that may be. I always think you get a better feel for the city if you are right in the heart of things. And also and probably more importantly there are a lot of cost savings to be had if you are not paying for taxis every day. Also given the fact that there are so many cheap hotels in Manchester now compared to even a few years ago its hard to see why people still want to stay outside the main areas. Im also seeing alot more of these significant discounts recently to help entice people into the bigger hotels, and it is usually the bigger establishments and chains that are doing it. So hopefully i have covered everything, check out their site below if you want some more info: http://www.britanniahotels.com/hotels/manchester-sachas
Manchester hotel review : City Inn
So the British summer is almost over (did it ever really begin?) and it seems again that its been a bit of a washout. Still with that being said i think there’s still lots going on in Manchester indoors and out to keep you interested. I know alot of people are starting to think about weekend breaks in the autumn and there has never been a better time to book ahead. With this in mind here at CheapHotelsInManchester i thought i would do a review of another budget hotel in the Manchester area that offers alot but at a great price.

Its not too often that we review a 4 star hotel here but i suppose there is a first time for everything! The City Inn hotel is about half a mile from the city centre and represents pretty good value for a hotel in this category. A double or twin room is going to be between £60 - £70 for the night, which is at the top range of the scale for what would be considered a cheap hotel in Manchester but i think its still great value for the standard of accommodation that you are getting. The City Inn is probably most famous for the views it provides right over the city centre and down onto Auburn Street but that doesn’t mean it lacks in many of the other essential departments. Each room comes with TV/DVD player and minibar and has full wifi throughout.
The hotel is quite popular with business travellers as it is very close to the Manchester convention centre. As mentioned before i still think location is one of the most important factors if you are looking for discounts in Manchester or the surrounding area. Given that this hotel isn’t actually that much more expensive than a similar hotel on the outskirts it makes sense to stay closer to the city centre. Also i have also thought that you never really get the feel of the city if you are staying on the outskirts, you are after all there to experience the city and its hard to do that if you have to travel 5 miles every day of your holiday to get to it from your accommodation.
Anyway i got a little sidetracked there, back to this hotel review! Ive noticed some higher than average price differences in the room rates depending on the day you book. For example a single double during the week can be as much as £30 cheaper than the same room at the weekend which is a bigger difference than you would normally expect. It also reaffirms my previous convictions that booking your stay on abnormal dates definitely has its advantages and not just on price but also in terms of space and comfort. So conclusion i think there are some great deals to be had here, check out their site below.
